I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have over 20 years of experience working with adults and teens in various settings in the San Francisco Bay Area. I have extensive experience in the areas of addiction, complex trauma, post-traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, life-transitions, and loss/grief. Outside of my practice, I manage and supervise a group of clinicians as the Clinical Director of a community behavioral health clinic.
I was born and grew up in Japan, and have spent most of my adult life in the United States. I studied Journalism at Doshisha University, in Kyoto, Japan, before coming to this country. I lived in Texas and Louisiana for several years before moving to California in 2000. My personal experience as an immigrant and bi-cultural citizen has given me firsthand knowledge of issues surrounding immigration and acculturation, and also helps me understand a variety of client situations and struggles.
